  40. ExtraDOS Toolbox is a compilation of tools useful to Microsoft DOS
  41. users.  I originally wrote the first version of ExtraDOS under MS-DOS
  42. because I found a need for them and there were no commercially
  43. available products that provided these functions.  Some ExtraDOS tools
  44. were designed to enhance programs already found in MS-DOS.  Other
  45. tools were familiar to the Unix world, but were not available in
  46. MS-DOS.  Over the years this collection has grown into large group of
  47. very useful tools.  Some of these utilities are duplicates of those
  48. found elsewhere, but often provide much better features or reduced
  49. memory overhead than similar utilities found elsewhere.  In addition,
  50. ExtraDOS complements PC-Tools and Norton Utilities with added tools
  51. these programs do not provide.

  53. Over thirty of the ExtraDOS Toolbox utilities have been selected by
  54. Paul Somerson, former Executive Editor of PC Magazine, for Bantam
  55. Books', DOS Power Tools, 2nd Edition, Revised and Expanded for DOS
  56. 5.0.  Many of the ExtraDOS Toolbox utilities are now appearing in many
  57. popular DOS books that feature shareware enhancements for DOS.

  101.   Upon notification of defects in material or workmanship,
  102.   within the warranty period of 45 days from the date of purchase,
  103.   Foley Hi-Tech Systems will, at its option, replace the defective
  104.   diskette or refund the license fee. If you need to return a product,
  105.   call the Foley Hi-Tech Systems Technical Support Service Department
  106.   to obtain a return authorization number. The remedy for breach of
  107.   this warranty shall be limited to replacement or refund and shall
  108.   not encompass any other damages, including but not limited to loss
  109.   of profit, and special, incidental, consequential, or other similar
  110.   claims.

  137. CLEANFL - Clean Floppy Drive Heads

  141. DESCRIPTION
  142.  
  143.   CLEANFL is a utility that makes the task of cleaning floppy drive
  144.   heads much easier and more thorough.  By moving the head of the
  145.   floppy drive back and forth traveling the entire span of the drive
  146.   you get a much better cleaning action and the surface of your
  147.   cleaning diskette will last much longer.  Most cleaning diskettes
  148.   tell you to place them in the drive and type DIR A:.  In this
  149.   scenario the head is always over the first track using a small
  150.   percentage of the cleaning surface all the time.  By using CLEANFL
  151.   the cleaning surface gets a much more even wear and will last longer
  152.   and provide a better cleaning job for your diskette drives.

  178.   Everything requested has been done.  The parameters can be in any
  179.   order on the command line.  The drive specifier requires the colon
  180.   (:) since that's how I verify that the parameter is, in fact, a
  181.   drive letter.
  182.  
  183.   The autodetect of the number of tracks and the drive type (floppy,
  184.   fixed, or RAM) needs to be tested on systems with very old BIOSes
  185.   (pre 1984) and also on XT class computers.  On systems where the
  186.   feature isn't supported you should get an error message stating that
  187.   the /Tnn parameter is required (no default).  On not sure of the
  188.   result if you drive to CLEAN a harddrive with a very old BIOS.  If
  189.   it let's it slip by it shouldn't be a problem since it will only
  190.   move the head a few times without changing the data.

  196.   Often we get calls from people asking questions that can be
  197.   solved easily by checking through the manual before calling tech
  198.   support. We ask that you browse the manual and look for information
  199.   pertaining to your particular problem before calling. This can often
  200.   save you time, as we take a collection of our most common questions
  201.   and try to address them in this manual.

  203.   We offer alternative methods besides the conventional phone
  204.   support, such as a multi-line 24-hour BBS system. We also monitor
  205.   most technical conferences in the BBS Interlink and RelayNet
  206.   networks as well as many conferences on the CompuServe
  207.   Information System. You may send messages and questions via any of
  208.   these services.

  233.   grown tools that I just could not stand to live without.  Many times
  234.   someone would see me using them and ask for a copy.  This was a big
  235.   mistake.  All of the sudden I had to debug my code.  Someone would
  236.   call me up and remind me of some problem with a utility that I had
  237.   written or asked me to just add this one little feature.  Six years
  238.   later the package has evolved to its current state.  Along the way I
